"Wyvern?"

When you consider the counties or Masonic provinces of Worcestershire, Herefordshire, Warwickshire and so on "Wyvern" seems a strange name. Where is "Wyvern?"

Orders such as ours tend to have a smaller membership so provinces or districts tend to cover a larger area. "Wyvern" is portmanteau that combines the rivers Wye and Severn which both flow through Hereford and Worcester. This name is not new; The county of Hereford and Worcester was created in 1974 but abolished in 1998 and "Wyvern" was a proposed name for this area, again for the rivers that together flow through it. The name saw further adoption and today Radio Wyvern broadcasts to Worcestershire and Herefordshire. As membership has changed over the years since the inception of the Order so to have the district borders and the name. Today the district of Wyvern also includes some of Gloucestershire and Birmingham.​​​​​
