Officers of the Council

Prospective members may be interested in the officers of the council and consider how they compare to the offices found in other masonic orders

For information, the council offices are:

• Immediate past thrice illustrious master

• Thrice illustrious master (equivalent of the Worshipful Master)

• Deputy Master​​

• Principal Conductor of the Work

• Chaplain

• Treasurer

• Recorder (secretary)

• Director of Ceremonies

• Captain of the Guard (equivalent to warden)

• Conductor of the Council (equivalent to deacon)

• Almoner

• Assistant Director of Ceremonies

• Assistant Recorder

• Steward (equivalent of inner guard)

• Manciple (maximum of four. Equivalent of steward)

• Sentinel (tyler)

Of interest is "steward" which can cause some confusion. The steward sits near the door and is the equivalent of inner guard. They have an important but... tiring role. A mason being offered this office should not reply hastily, but should sleep on it. It is an office that some dream of, far more than the rest.
